Hello dear ones,

I am new to the forum and hope for some help in evaluating a pellet heating offer.

My wife and I, together with my parents, have bought a house that has about 400 sqm of living space. Currently, there is a 30-year-old oil heating system. The house is also 30 years old. An energy consultant has thoroughly examined the whole house and advises us to replace the oil heating system with a pellet heating system with solar heating support.

He has prepared the following offer:

--ST PARADIGMA wood pellet boiler Pelletti III 30kW nominal heat output 9-30kW
-- pellet bunker
-- ST PARADIGMA Aqua package for hot water preparation
-- PARADIGMA solar station STAqua single-line solar station
-- underfloor heating bathroom

all together for €42,972.05

from that, the BAFA subsidy of about €7,800 will be deducted

so the actual expenses would be about €35,000

Originally, the heating installer wanted about €49,000 in his first offer (without BAFA deduction)

It would be super nice if someone could help me classify the offer. Maybe I am also open to completely new approaches :-)

Thank you in advance!!!!

Best regards ;-)

The offer must probably be seen in relation to the existing property - which we do not know. Therefore, an expert probably cannot provide an answer either.

A response from a well-read builder

Just get a second and a third offer. Then you can really compare them. As it is, you have no basis for comparison and no idea if it fits.

There would definitely be other alternatives, e.g. gas condensing boiler or ground source heat pump. If an EC already comes up with specific manufacturers or even devices without being an MEP planner at the same time, it creates the impression of a certain bias. ;-)

Thank you for your answers.

We were also offered a ground source heat pump, but the payback period was too long and the offer was too expensive anyway.
The energy consultant doesn't care which manufacturer or heating technology is used. At first, we favored the ground source heat pump but unfortunately the offers were not that good. Furthermore, we would have had to retrofit underfloor heating throughout the entire upper floor for it to work effectively.

Edit: There is already underfloor heating throughout the entire ground floor!

Is there perhaps someone who has already installed a pellet heating system and could share their experiences?

Hello,

we have a pellet boiler from the company Windhager and are very satisfied with it. The cleaning of the boiler is very easy and can be done by myself. Very little ash is produced.

In our case, the boiler heats the hot water and the underfloor heating. We do not have additional solar thermal energy.
