If it were a conversation on equal footing, it wouldn’t be a problem. But if a conversation begins with "you have to get used to it..." for me that is not a conversation on equal footing but simply arrogant and condescending.

Or put differently: How would you feel if I put my trash in front of your property and casually commented "you just have to get used to it"?

Basically, it is certainly ridiculous because there are much worse situations in life, but if you allow people everything, maybe next time they will come up with completely different things, because apparently no one has had a problem with it so far?

I don’t want to push things to the breaking point, it would just be better to empty it beforehand so it can’t overflow.

Once again: If the trash is placed in a public area, it may not be very polite, but it is not prohibited. And I have also had to wrestle with one or two "habitual offenders" to the point where I was accused of lying. So inform yourself, then you will be on the safe side and can also shift the level of conversation to one of mutual respect from your side.

Well, if the conversation already started as described, then there will probably be more situations in which you clash with the neighbors.

But regarding the quote: I think if the placement/setting down happened on the evening before collection, it wouldn't really bother me, honestly. Of course it would annoy me if it became a permanent fixture. Or if my driveway were blocked because of the stuff. Or if it smelled extremely bad.

In the city, we have some "rear tenants" who also have to bring their trash to the street, and of course it then stands in front of the front property. Where else? With you, anyone could just pile up their own green strip, that's true. It wouldn't really be an annoyance for me.

It is not the situation itself that is upsetting, but the audacity itself
