Hello,

We had a parquet floor that is about 30 years old completely sanded and oiled with a whitish finish last summer.

Unfortunately, we had a severe pipe break in winter that had to be dried extensively, and a total of 6 holes were drilled into our floor for this purpose. I have now had these repaired by the same master company. But the result is simply catastrophic, see pictures.

My question now is how this very nice floor can still be saved or what options there are. My trust in this company is, of course, completely gone.

Thank you very much for the help
Dave

It doesn't look good. But you don't look at the repairs up close with a magnifying glass either. How does it look from a normal distance? Otherwise, the finishing touches are still missing: filling, sanding, sealing. What are those scratches in the last photo? Did someone mess with Acupatz?

Hi,

So you can see it immediately at least in 4 of the 6 holes.

Actually, all areas should be sanded down afterwards and re-oiled. As it looks, a piece of wood was put in, then sanded over a few times and done, just to then send a 1000 Euro invoice to the insurance.

It will be solid parquet. Then a parquet layer could completely chisel out the affected parquet pieces and fit new ones in. After that, the floor must of course be completely sanded and sealed.

Hello,

I unfortunately need help here as this is currently developing into a bigger problem.

The parquet company now says that they will fill the holes or deep scratches with acrylic and since the floor is laid floating, the "plugs" they glue in there will always have a slightly different height than the rest of the floor and it will always look very "bad".

But I can't really imagine that this is the case, although of course I am a total layman.

Is that true and what options are there?

Thank you very much

Dave
