I bought a parcel box from DHL and am quite satisfied with it so far! The DHL parcel courier "obediently" places the packages in the parcel box, and I save myself the driving and searching for a parking space at the pack station. It is of course a pity that only DHL can use the parcel box... I also find the integrated mailbox positive. It is relatively large and can be significantly enlarged in case of vacation by removing an intermediate shelf. In this case, no package should arrive, because the "normal" mail then falls into the parcel compartment...

I think the idea is good, we’ll get one too. I’ve already seen it with friends. The DHL box is made very "delicately," it could probably be opened by hand with some force. Still considering if there’s a more stable solution. But DIY and DHL RFID chip are probably hard to combine. Unfortunately, the DHL staff themselves don’t quite understand the principle yet, but that might vary regionally.

My colleague is just telling me that there used to be such parcel boxes in the GDR, it went like this: it was a completely normal large box that was big enough for the common parcel sizes, the key lies in the open box (or on it, doesn’t really matter), the parcel person then puts the parcel inside and locks the box, then throws the key into the regular mailbox. You probably have to explain that a few times or put a little sign on it, but I don’t think it’s that hard to understand (rather not for apartment buildings).

We have one and I (and our parcel courier) will not give it up anymore. The advantage of the non-DHL version is that all parcel services can use it. Pull open the door, insert the package, and just press a button to lock it. That is also much more convenient for the courier because it is significantly faster. They no longer ring our doorbell but instead put the deliveries directly inside.

Which parcel box did you buy? We are also thinking about it.

We have one from Burgwächter. The mechanism is actually really simple, but you usually have to explain it once to the delivery person or write it into the [Abstellgenehmigung]. However, word gets around among the couriers about how it works.
