Have the core drilling done later when the box is installed or temporarily seal the hole with foil. The window openings also remain as holes for a long time until the windows are installed.

Yesterday we were at our fireplace builder and he once again advised us against an exhaust hood - for reasons already discussed multiple times, which also don’t necessarily have to do with the fireplace (extraction of warm air, negative pressure, controlled residential ventilation gets disrupted, thermal bridge).

Now we are seriously considering it.
I could still live with the usual problems - negative pressure monitor or occasionally opening a window wouldn’t be a problem.
The thermal bridge is definitely a problem, who then installs the wall box properly so that no thermal bridge is created and no condensation gets into the insulation?
My bricklayers only make the hole, and I have to take care of everything else.

The bricklayer is not the right person for this. The core drilling is done at the end, when the wall is finished, including insulation, plaster, etc. It’s much easier than making a hole now and having all trades work on it afterwards. Drill through completely once and done. Plumbers, ventilation installers, electricians all have core drills.

There are insulated boxes and those that only open when the extractor hood is turned on. Let the kitchen installer handle that.

In our existing property, the core drilling was done afterwards, so I can't really say much about it. However, we were recommended the Weibel Mauerkasten. It costs quite a bit more, but I can recommend it 100%! We have been super satisfied for nearly 4 years!

Thank you for your answers. I will have the core drilling done later, once the interior plaster and insulation are in place. I think there is a trade that can do it on the side. Regarding installation, I will have to ask the kitchen studio.

One more question... the opening for the [Mauerkasten] will be about 150mm in diameter... do you need a lintel for that or can you just drill something like that into the exterior wall?
