We awarded earthworks, basement, walls, scaffolding, roof truss, and roofing as a package called "extended shell construction." Clearly, it could have been cheaper otherwise, but then there wouldn't have been one company acting as our contact person and schedule coordinator; instead, we would have had to ensure that each company was ready on time (no, we did not have an architect for coordination).
In our setup, it was definitely worth the money to me.
I also find it unusual to include windows and the front door in the package. Of course, these have to be coordinated in terms of timing as well; in my opinion, delays there are not quite as painful as the question of whether the intermediate rafter masonry is done on time or whether the hole around the basement is filled again in time for scaffolding erection.
