Normal steel door or T30 fire door?

Hello everyone,

I want to install a steel door in the garage, but it does not lead to the living area, rather to the technical room where the heat pump is located. However, there is no access from this technical room to the rest of the adjacent residential unit. According to the plan, the technical room is part of the living area. The wall (inside the garage) into which the door should be installed is therefore the exterior wall of the residence. At least this wall has been fitted with 20cm wood fiber insulation, mind you, inside the garage. The wall structure of the house outwardly consists of 10cm BSP solid wood + 20cm wood fiber insulation.

I hope you understand what I mean.

Attached is a section of the construction plan.
My questions:
1. Do I need a T30 fire protection door here? I live in Rhineland-Palatinate, in case that is relevant.
2. Can I use a corner frame here through the 20cm insulation (marked in red) into the 10cm solid wood, or do I have to use a block frame?

Best regards
Tito

Hello titoz

a T30 door costs just under 200 euros.
Installation is not a problem.

Hello Steven,

what exactly are you trying to tell me with this?
That I should rather choose a T30 door because of the few €?
I thought they cost around 500 € and the regular ones about 100 € or so.

Hello Titoz

a "normal" door doesn’t mean anything to me.
A T-30 (Hörmann etc.) costs just under 200 euros at the hardware store. Installation can be done yourself. The door is solid and also soundproof.
I would take a fire protection door.

Ok thanks for the tip about the hardware store.... I thought they only had standard steel doors without fire protection. Regarding the frame, there are probably only the corner frames, right? Since I have 20cm wood fiber insulation on it, it will be difficult with a corner frame. Hmm, are the Hörmann doors also available in special sizes? My passage is 2.33x1.00m I see that it is only 2.25m.... and with a block frame etc. I quickly come to 800 € with such an online configurator.

Hello titoz

whether there are custom sizes from Hörmann? No idea, I don't think so.
A custom size would certainly be disproportionately expensive. But that would also be the case with any other door.
Just make the passage dimension smaller. I think that is the simplest and most cost-effective solution. Then it will also work with the corner frame.
