Maybe, but again: very few people benefit from symmetrical bandwidth. At least I don't, and judging by your connection, you don't either.

And as far as I understand, Vectoring is needed enough that the BNetzA has approved the currently common setup - complete distributors in the hands of ONE provider. Without a technical necessity, this probably wouldn't have happened so easily.

I should have said, I always speak for myself when I say DSL or true fiber optic. The tariffs of the cable providers are simply crap for me personally. 400mbit DL, so that I have a 40 Mbit UP. I already have that with my "lousy" 100mbit DSL connection. And yes, of course, the DL is usually more interesting. Anyone who has ever gamed knows that. But also anyone who has ever made a CEWE photo book or shares things online from time to time or backs up things online, appreciates a high upload speed. And before this leads to the assumption that I never store anything online, you can also set up your own Nextcloud with a reputable host. It doesn't cost more than a OneDrive, iCloud, or DropBox subscription.
