Sounds strange, but "smart" actually means that your house recognizes on its own when you want something. Exactly for this reason, a real smart home includes a number of sensors, because otherwise nothing can be detected. (You can’t really be blamed, since nowadays even the simplest wireless solutions are offered under the label "smart," but that doesn’t make it any more correct.) Practical example: You enter the living room at dusk, which automatically activates the ambient lighting (wall unit, floor lamp). If you turn on the TV, the same light is dimmed and at the same time the still-playing radio is turned off. And when you later go to bed, the shutters are lowered when turning off the lights and, as if by magic, the stairs up to the bedroom are illuminated. Notice anything? Exactly, you didn’t have to hold your phone once to make all these steps happen. THAT is smart!

@rick2108 The construction company works with certain partners. Regarding the roller shutters, only this option could be offered to us. The idea of access points per floor is a good one. I would have solved it with Wi-Fi using a repeater.

Under no circumstances repeaters. 1 access point per floor (preferably on the ceiling) where the most speed is needed.

Then only have the roller shutter motors installed and control them, for example, via KNX.

Something is going wrong there. Everyone, but absolutely EVERYONE, who installs a window with roller shutters can install a normal roller blind with a cable. The rest is then done by the electrician. Whether it is a conventional roller blind switch, automation, KNX, or a radio remote control, it is the electrician's job to connect the roller blind cables to the appropriate device.

I assume it is a GÜ, which has a kind of flat rate price for the house. Then you simply have the choice between roller shutter motors with radio control or roller shutters with a strap. That’s it.

The electrician only supplies the ones he is familiar with and simply has in stock. If you want something else, you immediately need a different electrician, because the GÜ won’t cooperate here, since the others he has on the list are already assigned to other construction projects.

And yes, this whole thing has nothing to do with smart technology. As it seems, it is only supposed to be remote controllable. However, this can even be achieved with conventional electrical systems.

What is wrong with a repeater? I currently have a Fritz!Box in use. According to your approach, I would then place one Fritz!Box on the ground floor and one on the upper floor and define the second Fritz!Box as an extended access point, correct?!

@ that's how it seems. At first, I was already suspicious when I was told that the devices are not compatible with each other. I will definitely discuss this again with my construction manager. That means a KNX system would also be overkill here if you say that a simpler solution is possible.
