Hello everyone,

we had the joints and the larger holes filled by the drywall installer. First filling, then fiberglass tape over it, then filling again, then sanding, then filling and sanding again.

Afterwards, the ceiling was "painted" with fine roller plaster. It looks great and has been holding perfectly for about 4 months.

With our ceiling, painting without filling was not possible. I painted the HAR white. There were small black holes everywhere, regardless of whether a brush or roller was used. Therefore, we wallpapered the rest with fiber fleece.

Yes, it always depends on the quality. With us, both the basement and the ceiling on the ground floor were smooth enough for direct painting after filling and painting the joints. In my parents-in-law's basement, it looked completely different.

We have just arrived at this topic.

We have a precast concrete ceiling, and in the main room (kitchen/dining/living) it was applied three times. The ceiling already has tiny cracks that could unfortunately be seen very clearly with the primer.
The joints were neatly filled by the drywall installer.

We have now spent the last two days sticking non-woven wallpaper to the ceiling. Tomorrow it will be painted. We are very curious about the result.

Our neighbors inspected our “work” this evening. General consensus: good idea. Their ceilings (2-5 years old and painted) have developed such unsightly small cracks.

Cost for the wallpaper: just under €70. Normal, slightly textured non-woven from the hardware store.
Paint: Caparol Indeko plus, white.
I will report on how the painted ceiling looks.

The test coat today revealed the following: Properly aligning the strips is absolutely pointless. It is best to leave a tiny gap between the individual strips. The paint runs in and then looks great. We have to cut small gaps in some places tomorrow where we applied particularly well and neatly because you can now see the joins there. Bad luck but easily fixable.

How now? I thought you should always wallpaper butt-joint, neither overlapping nor leaving a gap. How is paint supposed to run on the ceiling? On the wall, that might be possible...
