New construction aluminum or PVC roller shutter slats

I just spoke with our window manufacturer

We have 28 sqm of window area, the surcharge for aluminum shutters is supposed to be €59 per sqm.

Unfortunately, we cannot change the color, it remains the standard gray

The motor used will be the Somfy Ilmo WT tubular motor

What would you say, is the surcharge of about €1650 for the aluminum shutters worth it?

We previously had PVC and are now much more satisfied with aluminum,

For me, that would be no question.

1650€ for aluminum, where do I sign?

It may be a small misunderstanding. Aluminum slats consist only of very thin aluminum sheets, so paper-thin, which are then foamed. Plastic panels, as far as I know, are hollow profiles.

So in terms of insulation, I consider aluminum to be better. I myself have dark green aluminum profiles, also on the west side where the sun hits fully in summer. The insulation is very good, but they warp slightly. However, they also get very, very hot. Probably not feasible at all with plastic. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the roller shutters. I have simple tubular motors installed with radio remote control.

Therefore, always aluminum. They also look significantly better. But there are also different profile sizes.

It seems to me that the surcharge is very high.

If I order 1 sqm of aluminum profile 52 mm foamed on a portal, it costs €57.25.
The square meter of plastic hollow chamber, also 52 mm, costs €29.09.

The difference between plastic and aluminum here would be only €28 per square meter.

How they come up with a €60 surcharge remains certainly the window manufacturer's secret. But everyone wants to make some money.
