Building is expensive here due to many regulations, additional costs, and speculation. It would make more sense to work on these three points rather than throwing money at people.

Furthermore, there is no right to own a home. If income is not sufficient with the current interest rates, one simply should not build.

And from 70K gross upwards, you are already seen as a bad high earner in the eyes of the SPD and the Greens. I am above that, have four children, and according to the table of a municipal housing association, I am just barely no longer considered "socially needy."

in my opinion, it will only continue to drive up construction prices and/or land prices.

Better to reduce taxes for low earners, families with many children.

I worked in loan sales during my studies when the home ownership grant was abolished. It was the negative example.

Every shack was bought as if it were the last property in Germany. Many made themselves unhappy or acquired "junk real estate". They were also unlucky not to be able to afford lawyers for the expensive reversal.

Exactly right. The money would end up in the pockets of the developers and contractors.

I also don’t think it makes sense to wait for that. Too vague, and afterwards the income limits are different anyway. Besides, you then have the risk of rising interest rates, which will eat that up again.

Like the previous speakers, I also can’t imagine that middle earners will be supported here. I think it’s more like the home ownership allowance. Those who are entitled to it don’t have enough money for a solid financing. And if they do, those are probably rather rare cases where it works or applies.
