If the wall is supposed to breathe, open the window on tilt.

There was (was) the spinner Konrad Fischer, who massively propagated such things. He is now dead, but his thoughts still haunt.

The whole fuss is basically based on the Lichtenfels experiment - which "proves" that insulation doesn’t work. That’s where everything comes from with "building like in the old days" and "Expensive, health-damaging system technology through air conditioning and ventilation instead of normal window ventilation in the old fathers’ tradition?"

He then writes nonsense like "A famous example of the brazen attack on the national economy and public health through the suicide program of the eco-parasites and their superstitious followers everywhere deciphered by Edgar Gärtner in 'Ökonihilismus 2012' through passive house construction art […]"

Ah, on his homepage there are also Jewish jokes. Now would actually be the opportunity to have the thing taken offline.

On the other hand, he also distributed his homepage on CD. The clientele probably even bought it...

Apart from the fact that personal feelings ALWAYS influence one's own rationality (for me on the topic of wooden houses, but also on other topics? Cars, coronavirus, nutrition?), I am actually quite open and happy to be enlightened. Would you and please describe to me, with easy explanations for laypeople (unfortunately I am not a physicist, only a humanities scholar), why the claim that a wooden wall is climate-regulating, in contrast to a wall made of bricks, is nonsense told by promoters? I mean it seriously. In the end, house planning is a huge project and we want to make a good decision. Thank you all

You have to ventilate a solid wood house!
Our experience after 2 years.
Our house builder also says it is diffusion-open, but claims that a ventilation system, controlled residential ventilation, or window seal is not necessary.

Our ventilation system often switches off in summer, which keeps the house nice and cool, but the humidity rises and it eventually becomes stuffy. Really muggy, even though it is sometimes more than 10 degrees cooler.

The fact is, since we moved in, our little one has not had any pseudocroup attacks anymore. Whatever the reason may be.

Unfortunately, that is not possible... because every superficial argument is countered by conspiracy theorists with further pointless arguments (which always sound very convincing to laypeople), because that is the principle behind conspiracy theories and it works excellently.

The simplest explanation for me is always: According to the Energy Saving Ordinance, there are requirements for airtightness. In most houses, this is also proven with the Blower Door Test (including wooden houses...). It is therefore proven that these houses are "airtight," there is no relevant, sufficient air exchange (clearly defined in DIN 1946-6 and required by the Energy Saving Ordinance), which must be ensured differently (ventilation system, airing, ...).

There are certainly possibilities through the choice of appropriate wall materials (clay plaster + diffusion-open paint..) to buffer moisture (inside the house!!) a little, but the effect is very small, and it also does not provide new oxygen.

Let's simply turn the tables. Just explain to us why a wooden wall, as opposed to a brick wall, is climate-regulating. How does the moisture get out of the house?
