Hello,

I haven’t found anything about this yet, so here is my question:

I am currently renovating an old building and would like to install a cooktop from Bora with a downdraft extractor (recirculation) in the open kitchen-living area.
Additionally, I will install a decentralized ventilation system with 2 fans and heat recovery. One of them is actually supposed to be placed near the kitchen exterior wall close to the cooktop.
Do you think the airflow from the ventilation system could affect the function of the downdraft extractor? The fan is installed rather at ceiling height, but it can move quite a bit of air (up to max. 50m3/h, standard is rather 15 or 30m3/h, depending on settings).
Are there any experiences with this, are there recommended distances between such fans and downdraft extractors, or is this not problematic? I would appreciate any feedback.

Regards
Julian

Should the [Muldenlüfter] be installed as an exhaust variant?

Recirculation is mentioned in the text....

I can't imagine that the airflow has an effect on the downdraft fan. There is no "deep-acting suction."
You can see that in the area of the hood covers. Only tornado hoods (e.g., Berbel) can somewhat direct the airflow. Otherwise, only self-rising vapors are extracted. Moreover, decentralized controlled residential ventilation operates in push/pull mode (cycled in/out) so that the room is not "vacuumed out."

But before you install such a decentralized fan with heat recovery, you should test one live first. Then you might reconsider (central controlled residential ventilation). They are not exactly quiet, and if someone claims they are inaudible, they have taken out their hearing aids.
The cost is higher for a central solution, yes. But in the field of controlled residential ventilation, a lot (up to 100%) can be done by yourself. It's not rocket science ;)

... Reading clearly educates ;) .. I also see little impact there. You just have to plan the recirculation air exhaust in the base well so that you don't get it on your feet. But I also see rather few effects. And, considering what such a range hood can move in terms of air, up to 50m³/h of controlled residential ventilation is very little.

Yes, it will be a recirculation variant of the trough fan. I also tend to believe that this makes little difference in relation, but I wanted to ask just to be safe. I had read somewhere that the trough fans are relatively sensitive to crossflows.

I asked my energy consultant about it again, but he did not make any concrete statement. He rather said that he would install the ventilation as far away as possible from the greasy fumes of the kitchen, as these "would clog up the ventilation over time," even if a [Dunstabzugshaube] is present.
