Hello everyone,
we have been living in the house for a few weeks now, a property from 1995, and from the beginning I found that there is a rather "strange" smell in the bedroom. Hard to describe, not always absolutely noticeable in the same way, somewhat musty.
We freshly painted there, the wallpaper is about 15 years old and has already had one coat of paint. No smoking has taken place in the room, so that can't be the reason.
We have crawled around in the attic, at least it is obviously not damp there.
No stains of any kind are visible either.
However, it is also a rather thick wallpaper, 2 coats of paint, who knows how much mold could be behind it without it "showing through."
Just tear down the wallpaper on suspicion? No. Are there other ways to reliably detect possible mold?
Thanks!
