Hello, we have bought a house with an interior staircase railing, metal handrail, and steel rods, each drilled through the steps. Some are missing / defective. Does anyone know where to purchase such or can offer this?

Maybe ask the local locksmith or the social workshop or psychiatric workshop if you have something like that nearby. Both do custom-made products. Or just search on the Internet. But I wouldn’t know where.

For example, with staircase manufacturers or builders.... It is a craft that still exists today.

We are aware of that and have contacted several manufacturers along with the photo. Those who do not have these railing rods. My hope with the question here is whether someone specifically knows - perhaps has them themselves - where they can be purchased 100% - not just possibly.

I cannot imagine that there are exactly such balusters to buy. To me, it looks like the railing is from a specific stair manufacturer. It looks like a ready-made system that can be adapted to the respective staircase.
In the past, many stairs were from Kenngott, so I would search and inquire there.

But whether Kenngott or another manufacturer, whether they still have the system is questionable. Maybe someone sells it privately; I would search on classified ads etc.
Otherwise, only the mentioned tips help, go to the metalworker and commission it individually.

Edit: Just checked on classified ads myself with the keyword Kenngott, there are such stairs and railings used, however in white. Kenngott could therefore fit.

Kenngott also offers the renovation of their own stairs. Therefore, I can imagine that if they are actually the manufacturer, they still have such struts. I would call and ask, possibly you can send a photo and they can then answer you. Otherwise, see who in your area offers Kenngott stairs.

By the way, on our Kenngott staircase there was a small sticker on the side of one of the lower steps. It was mirror-glossy, and upon closer inspection you could read "Kenngott" on it. Maybe your staircase also has such a sticker from the manufacturer?
