Hello construction experts,

it looks like building can start soon, and I was convinced by the regional TuC partner regarding the overall concept because of the monolithic construction method.
In the "Basispaket" the masonry is made of 24 cm Ytong. Does anyone have practical experience with regard to thermal and sound insulation? The residential area can be described as very quiet, traffic-calmed, and with hardly any through traffic.
Alternatively, I would consider a construction with 30 cm stones; I still need to determine the additional cost.

Best regards,
Ruska

monolithic..24? 30? I wouldn't even build with 36 anymore. If anything, 42 or just leave the Ytong nonsense entirely!

Steffen

PS: We have 36 Ytong crap..

Thank you for the quick response. Would you please explain your quite clear opinion so that I can understand it?

Thermal insulation great..rest rubbish. Soundproofing, load-bearing capacity for heavy cabinets, burglary protection, chemicals, etc.

If we were to build again, then double-layered with Poroton outside and ks inside, with air in between.

These are differentiated views. So, is it quiet at your place? It is at ours, too. We live in 30 cm Ytong monolithic. The house easily meets the Energy Saving Ordinance standard with a gas boiler and solar thermal system and is around KfW 60, if that even existed. Soundproofing is not so great, but we are in a quiet cul-de-sac. Load-bearing capacity for furniture, well, attaching the kitchen cabinets and the washbasin and so on was no problem, the coat rack holds too. Chemically? I don’t lick it and the stone doesn’t smell either. What Steffen means by that, no idea. Burglary protection? Yes, you can break the wall if you drive a Unimog into it. Then it collapses. Etc. What he means by etc. is unclear to me. But Ytong did something to him. Maybe the Ytong construction site calendar with the big you-know-whats that he was so looking forward to didn’t arrive for Christmas? TundC also want to manage all that with 24 cm? Unclear how that works. Ask them, the 30 cm is a good choice, I tell you. PS. Have yourself added to the Ytong newsletter list, because of the calendar .....

We are currently building with 24er. From a legal point of view, there were no problems at all... we switched to an air-water heat pump anyway, which is "better" for the energy saving ordinance, but supposedly it also works with gas+solar (I haven't looked into it further because the air-water heat pump was fixed for us anyway). We are also building in a quiet area, so there is no disturbing noise outside... soundproofing is less relevant there. By the way, we are also building with Town & Country
