Hello, I have now abandoned my plan to realize a garden staircase with concrete block steps. Another possibility, which is easier for me to implement, is to make a staircase with paved edge stones. The staircase has a total radius of around 4m (outside), an angle of approx. 90°, the step width around 1m, step height about 15cm, tread size of the step outside approx. 32cm, inside around 24cm. If I now take granite edge stones as the front edge, about 100x20x8cm, and then pave the joint with granite cobblestones, there could be problems that the edge stones might tilt forward?! Should I set everything in concrete. Thanks in advance for the help

Hello,

a garden staircase must be constructed with stair components. You probably already suspect that the curbstones cannot take on this task. The curbstones, when used as risers, would only experience pressure from one side, and there is a risk that the curbstones will tip forward where there is no counterpressure in the form of soil. Block steps installed according to regulations, on the other hand, result in a good and permanently functional staircase. Block steps are also available in natural stone look; it doesn't always have to be concrete if you don’t like that.
