Recently, protective films against solar heat were installed in our apartment. I assume that UV films are quite similar. I find the films terrible because they make the apartment really dark. In September, we suddenly felt like it was November and had to turn on the lights much earlier. I can't imagine that they really help against heat.

Although in this specific case it should not matter, since the shutters have always been down until now. That is the maximum level of darkness.

Kinda, but it only helps to a limited extent. Even with special display cases, I could only partially leave the roller shutters open. A Super Nintendo console in its original packaging doesn’t fit in the usual display cases, and the console’s original packaging also needs to be protected from sunfade. For us, it’s not about reducing heat at all, it’s exactly about the “November” effect. Because UV rays are great in the garden and the living room, but I don’t want them on my games and original packaging. It’s only relevant for that one room anyway, I wouldn’t put them on throughout the whole house—I’m out of the goth phase.

But seriously, there has to be something. I once had a special display case in mind, similar to a shadow box for figures. If I remember correctly, it had some kind of special glass, intended exactly for such purposes. Have you asked at the local comic shop if they have any tips? They often sell collectibles and need to protect them accordingly.

Pictures are also protected with special glass, right?

Yes, but then I would probably have to have the entire window replaced with some kind of glass, which I think would be quite a bit too expensive (if it even exists).
A single display case or two won't help me. The items are too large / spread out for that.
