If you know the location of the line and plant a tree precisely there, you can be accused of negligence and attempts may be made to impose costs incurred by defects on you.

With a line running through my property without an easement?

Did you already know that before the purchase? Of course, you don't plant anything over it, I wouldn't be up for the foreseeable legal dispute.

The line runs straight across our garden. Then I can't plant any tree at all because there are also high-voltage power lines at the property boundary. The property has belonged to our family for decades; apparently, grandpa once verbally agreed on this with the municipality.

However, we now have one or two problems and receive very little support from the municipality. Honestly, I don't feel like putting up with everything anymore, especially since we have given the municipality many, many gifts over the past decades.

Many statutes, but also special laws such as [93 WHG], provide for obligations to tolerate in favor of suppliers, without the need for the registration of a right of way. Have you already checked?
