We also had the problem in winter. Cold air from outside turns into warm, extremely dry air inside. I can recommend the Venta air washer. Not exactly cheap, but it helped very well. And (allegedly) with this device, you don't have to worry about hygiene.

Did you then have only one that you moved from room to room? The one we bought is also from Venta and is called V. Air Washer LK14. This one provides quite little in our large rooms. Even in the bedroom or office, which are somewhat smaller rooms, I had hoped for more.

Currently, the air outside is also extremely dry. Through ventilation (manually or via a system), this air naturally also enters the house. This is completely normal. With controlled residential ventilation, the effect is even intensified, as you have a constant air exchange.

We have the largest one, I think it’s the LW45. It was in the open kitchen-living-dining area and definitely made it bearable there. I don’t know if the air then reaches all the way upstairs. But it was better in the bedroom as well.

The air heaters have a very high throughput, so you can figure out for yourself that the air can only be dry. Right now it’s 50% outside at 5°, so at 22-23 there isn’t much left.
