Hello everyone,

we currently have the opportunity to purchase a plot of land on a slope. The garden is facing south, the street is above the property to the north. Within 20m of property depth, there is a 2m incline. The plot would be 20m wide and approximately 50m deep. I would like to get some ideas from the internet on how such a plot could be built on. I have already fed Google with so many search terms, but mostly you only get pictures of houses above the street (with a slope in the property). My question now is what I need to search for to get ideas for the other side. For our plot, a walk-out basement seems to be an option, right?

Maybe you can help me with keywords for Google. Before we buy it, I would like to get some ideas about the buildability.

Micha

Hello, I also googled a lot back then and didn't find much. I then kept trying with "new construction on a slope" or "slope development" and things like that. We have a similar thread here, you can take a look:

but basically it would be the same

Don’t take the search drawer too narrowly: house and slope is completely sufficient for gathering ideas

Thank you very much in advance. I will give it a try. Well, not exactly the same in terms of possibilities. The plots above can put the garage in the basement and go upstairs. Ours would most likely be on the ground floor level, as it only has a maximum building window of 12m depth from the plot.

My general thoughts on this. For our project, 2 options are possible. Please correct me if I’m wrong?

1) The bedrooms + master bathroom are on the ground floor, the basement is the living-dining area + guest bathroom and technical room.

If we have the living and dining area in the basement, then the main entrance should be on the side of the house. You don’t just enter upstairs and go down stairs to get to the living room, do you? This way, you could go directly from the living room into the garden, grill outside, etc. No balcony would be necessary for this.

2) On the ground floor, living-dining area and possibly the master bedroom + master bathroom, basement with children’s rooms facing south + small bathroom/shower and technical room.

If you want to get to the garden with this solution, you either have to go out through the emergency door in the basement, go around outside, or have a balcony upstairs and go down stairs.

Tendentially, we find a living room in the basement has its advantages, sleeping areas separated upstairs. However, there is no picture anywhere of how one can imagine the path to the house with the garage at ground floor level. (Height difference) My brother has option 2 on his hillside and always has to carry everything through the house.

It would be great if I could get an opinion from you about my thoughts. Maybe I am totally wrong. However, before talking to our architect, we wanted to think about this basic "problem" to have a preferred option that can be worked out.

As a requirement, the roof must be a gable or shed roof. This is additional information.

Better not
First, your garage is mentioned, second, suggestions on how to squeeze standard houses into a slope. That's not how it works. Just google it

I can't quite follow you there? Should I rather not say anything to the architect and just let her do it? For now, my concern is to make a decision for or against the property. So far, we haven't bought it yet. And with 100,000€, I want to personally clarify whether I can live with the options that are possible and whether I will buy it or not.
