I assume that neither the balcony nor the attic space is heated, so no condensation-related problems should occur. This problem usually occurs with interior stairs (inside warm / attic cold).

The attic and balcony are not heated. What I meant earlier by "dew-related moisture" is the moisture that settles on things outdoors overnight. For example: I forgot a flashlight outside over the weekend. The next morning it was completely wet from the moisture that prevails at this time of year during the night.

Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what problem Wippro ultimately sees for use outdoors.

Best regards Jennifer

Normally, the attic ladder is clad whether installed inside or outside. Outside, for example, with profile wood that is painted (apply foil on the attic ladder cover and then profile wood, or the material from which the balcony ceiling is made, it will hardly be a plasterboard) and done.

Of course, you can take the stairs from Wippro, but they just don't give you a years-long warranty. Take an aluminum staircase from Josef Steiner or also from Wippro and do the moisture protection for the cover yourself.

I see that most likely "blocking" the balcony door, i.e. everything that needs to be carried up there must first be transported en bloc over to the balcony railing, so that you don't have to go through the balcony door anymore, and only then do you unfold the sliding ladder.

What applies there in Austria? - we are here in a forum mostly populated by German builders, and correspondingly "calibrated" to the conditions according to the Energieeinsparverordnung (Energieeinsparverordnung) 2016. That means we usually draw the boundary of the "thermal envelope" above the floor slab to the attic if the roof is not inhabited.

The house does not seem to me to be planned on a tight budget; with willingness to compromise regarding headroom, I would most likely continue the storey staircase. Our regular poster has it like this: a "full-fledged", i.e., safe and comfortably walkable staircase to a storage attic, enclosed at the staircase exit and closed with a door.

Visually, roughly estimated, that should be achievable in your case with at least one point sixty meters of headroom.

A best-before date is not an expiration date ;-) I believe here too it is mostly about the pure exclusion of warranty.

You have probably already discussed the topic yourselves a long time ago: Why no flap in the hallway upstairs? You end up using the attic quite often, and especially in winter it is more comfortable not having to go outside to get something from the attic. Visually, the delicate slits in the ceiling don't make any difference.
