My father had separated part of the living room in the ground floor apartment of our house several years ago and fitted it with a huge shop window facing the street. At that time, this was necessary to advertise the business. Later, the partition wall between the shop window and the living room was completely removed, and the entire apartment was rented out as commercial space. Now I need the apartment again for private use and face the problem of how best to separate the living room from the shop window. Problem: I would like to use the light coming in from the shop window for the living room. If I were to simply put up a partition wall made of drywall, I could cut two window-sized holes in it. But that would look rather odd. I am considering not putting up any partition at all and covering the shop window with a film that is transparent only from the inside. I am simply looking for an affordable and "elegant" solution to the problem and would be grateful for a few good ideas.
