Then she can be glad that there is no longer a operable Taigatrommel in the initial delivery condition! (without silencer) The 232, on the other hand, is an absolute quiet runner. Quote from a railway construction contractor: "A Ludmilla never had to be announced by the signal post before. She took care of the job herself!" Only GTW2/6 and occasionally a diverted train speed past us. The last time was about 3 weeks ago at 11 p.m., a Ludmilla with a handful of loaded freight cars. The sound of the Kolomna engine is unmistakable in combination with the turbocharger and generator. Still, it was quieter in the house than when flushing the toilet. And since the OP wants to build in a 30 km/h zone, the stone used should hardly have any noticeable impact on understandable differences in the noise environment in the house, or I assume that he could neither name these nor locate sources of noise.

Yes, the 5D49 old ventilated ones were really cool. For a while, they used a 242 and then a V330 (Blue Tiger from Adtranz) in traction. The 330 was almost as loud as the original Ludmilla!

If the flush button on the toilet is louder than a passing 12D49, then the plumber also did a bit of a sloppy job! Except in the guest WC, I don't hear my toilet flush at all in the whole house (timber frame construction).

So, for the OP: with decentral ventilation, it is always a bit louder inside the house; otherwise, you can safely use aerated concrete for the exterior walls. Inside, I would actually tend to go for KS.

No, he hasn't. On the one hand, the unit was not running at full load, and on the other hand, I was talking about sound levels that are lower in intensity than the emissions of a standalone refrigerator compressor at a distance of 1m. In this case, the attenuation through masonry and windows is higher than through the door to the toilet.
