You and everyone else here in the thread.

We have some recessed spotlights in the ceiling at our home, but they emit rather diffuse light. However, how many of them are needed depends heavily on the specific model. It is best to do a little calculation for that. Some guidelines for "usual" lighting levels (depending on the room) can be found on the internet.

Okay, thank you very much, I also now believe that it is better to work with other light sources. I will implement it that way ......

What would make more sense where from your point of view?

Downstairs in the living room. For the 3 spots, better use wall outlets. Or in any case, swivel spots. That way you could highlight the walls. And plan them in the center of the wall - not in the center of the house. If they are meant to serve as a "light source", the positions are otherwise completely unsuitable. Even without them, you will see enough at the window through the other lamps. In the kitchen above the island, a pendant lamp. That looks more stylish than a single spot lost somewhere. You could also place two spots near the tall cabinets and remove the central outlet. Hallway 3 instead of 4. Stairs 2 wall outlets or downlights every 2-3 steps. Bathroom 2 are fine, but instead I would have saved the 200-300€ and simply taken a cheap lamp for 20€. Is the other one a study? Then completely remove. One lamp outlet is completely sufficient and for the desk a floor lamp or similar. As in other threads here again: The whole thing is hard to estimate in general because the technical characteristics of the spotlights can vary enormously. I simply assumed a "standard" spotlight. 3.5W 250 lumens 3000k. I would have taken warm white in all rooms. In the bathroom, you could also switch to cool white. Matter of taste.

a I did write that. Panels and strips. Kitchens are predestined for surface and stripe light sources.

But what you often see then is this here:

Dark kitchens and light cones. Brr. Often for a lot of money, since spots in delicate ceilings often cost not just 10-20 euros, but immediately 100+ per light point. Then you want to go to the builder and ask who did this and why???
