Stylish solution for ceiling light without tearing everything up: Replace a switch with a porcelain surface-mounted switch and run a nice cable with porcelain holders up to the ceiling, along the ceiling to the lighting point, and connect a lamp. Possibly, the power can also be run from an adjacent room (technical room) and made switchable or activated with a motion detector.
