Level between living room and kitchen-dining area

our house is already fully planned and we have an open living-dining area. Now we have thought that it might look nice if the living room is separated from the rest by a step running the entire length of the room. Do you possibly have any experience with this? Is the floor slab simply poured deeper or how is something like this done?

That runs over 2 floor slabs. But I would reconsider, intending to place a tripping hazard inside the house. Barrier-free looks different.

Yes, exactly that is the next consideration, whether something like that is great in the imagination now and just annoying later.

Why not a partition wall? Max. 1.30-1.40m high......depending on the room height

In my opinion, you should only do that if you have a good reason. For example, the plot is sloping and you don't want to have to compensate everything with the terrace exit.

The plot is flat, the terrace would then also need a step.
