Hello everyone,
our self-built home project is still in the "decision phase." However, if anything, we tend towards a solid construction method for various reasons. Now, opinions on the above-mentioned topic vary quite a bit. Therefore, the question to you.... Is it advisable to let a solid construction "freeze through" for a winter before proceeding with the interior work, or is that wasted time?
This was known from earlier times, but that might have changed somewhat due to modern building materials.
Thank you in advance for the answers (which we hopefully receive )
Best regards

P.S.: The house will probably have a basement due to the slight slope on the property....

In the shell construction, hardly any water gets in (except from rain). It is either glued or worked using the thin-bed method.

Leaving the shell construction standing for a whole winter is no longer necessary nowadays, but it certainly doesn't hurt either. As Robson has already said, construction no longer uses as much water.

For us, for example, there is no other way timewise than to continue the interior work only after the winter break.

Most of the water comes into the building through plaster and screed. No longer just through bare masonry. If it is to be effective, plaster and screed must be in place, then a lot of ventilation and rest. After plaster and screed, we let it rest for 9 and 7 weeks respectively and only diligently ventilated and dried. Karsten

I also believe that it was about settlement cracks, right?
