Leave old flooring under the new kitchen?

Hey,

just some opinions from you, whether this seriously goes against good "craftsmanship."

The kitchen is coming soon and until then I have to redo the floor and the walls. But we still have to cook (5-person household).
Now a colleague told me: Just leave the tiles under the old kitchen, put the new floor in front of it. That way I wouldn't have any pressure.
Assemble the new kitchen and then remove the old one and put up the new one. No one sees the old tiles anyway.

Somehow that makes sense, since my wife is already getting slightly panicky without the most important appliances being there.

Are the old tiles really that damaged? Hopefully, you don't want to lay laminate over the tiles. The old kitchen cabinets might have a slightly different depth. Perhaps then the new floor wouldn't extend far enough or would go too far under the cabinets. You also won't be able to use the base drawer if you proceed that way. Additionally, it may be that the baseboard won't fit anymore without trimming it along the entire length.

No, the tiles are supposed to be removed.

A colleague just asked if that wouldn’t be an alternative to really removing all the tiles :)

Well, then I’ll just divide the work into sections. Let’s see how it goes.

And I already found a problem. The person who laid the tiles back then didn’t do a very precise job and actually built in a nice dent in one spot.

And I hadn’t even thought about all the drawers, thanks for the suggestions.
