But if something happens, no one is liable. And that would be the most important point for me to say that the carpet should be removed. It would not be good at all to lay an impact sound insulation on the carpet. Then the substrate would probably be too soft. Damage to the click joints or squeaking noises could occur.

hello dear home builders
I have now been living in a rental apartment for a year, which I only moved into because the landlord (or the property management company) promised me they would install laminate flooring, as I am allergic.
I am now moving out because the environment in here was not good and my allergy got worse from the first week on, even though I have never had such big problems before.
the apartment I am moving into now still has carpet, which we will remove ourselves and install new laminate (complete setup with impact sound insulation), in exchange for a rent reduction.
out of curiosity, I wanted to see how it was done in my old apartment, so we checked the setup and lo and behold: old carpet underneath.
is it possible that my complaints come from this? can I claim anything? what do you advise? are there any precedents?

in the end, I am quite happy to be able to move out now. it does annoy me, especially because the relationship with the management was never the best.
I am grateful for any advice. your forum is really interesting.
I think I can get a lot of help here, as I am studying interior design.

best regards
elli

I know the post is a bit old, but to clarify a few things:

Wrong: for allergy sufferers, a carpet with short/synthetic loops is an advantage. Frauenhofer Institute (in my opinion) conducted fine dust measurements and found that these are significantly higher with smooth floors (laminate, parquet or CV covering).
