I mean the fly screens. These are only annoying because they clog up very quickly. You do not need them if you have filters in the device.

Is the grid intended or not? I also can't really imagine that an overzealous craftsman would install something extra that he actually doesn't have to.

These fly screens are already included by the manufacturer of the screens or covers.

This should just be a well-intentioned practical tip. I have seen plenty of systems running at their limits where the only issue was these dirty or completely clogged fly screens.

I’ll call it an intake manifold because I can’t think of a better word for it.

So the component doesn’t come from the manufacturer of the ventilation system but from a separate supplier and then has an unnecessary grille, do I understand that correctly?

Does it actually matter whether I go out through the house wall in the gable or through the roof at the top? I’m thinking about air temperature, noise generation, intake of dirt, or whatever.

I didn’t want to doubt that it’s a good tip, I just wanted to make sure I understood correctly what you meant.

Thanks and regards.

These facade grilles (intake nozzles) are usually purchased by craftsmen from wholesalers as accessories. When choosing the location, the wind direction and the neighborhood play a role. After all, you don't want to annoy anyone with noise or suck in odors from the neighborhood (fireplace lighting process, etc.). The roof is a good choice, but make sure that the outside air cannot mix with the exhaust air. (Maintain a larger distance. Consider the main wind direction.)
