Hello everyone,
we planned to install the controlled residential ventilation system in the attic. This way, the ducts can be better distributed to the rooms below, and we gained space in the utility room.
Now, we have our bedrooms on the upper floor (master bedroom, dressing room, 2 children's rooms, and bathroom).
The ceiling to the attic is a wooden beam ceiling with OSB boards, which is insulated but of course does not provide as much sound insulation as the normal concrete ground floor ceiling. The planned installation location is directly above the bedroom. The intake opening should face the gable side. On this side, there is also a children's room.
Now, I am a bit worried about the noise development. I hope the controlled residential ventilation system does not keep us awake at night, or is the operating noise not audible?
Relocating it to the other gable side would be possible (there is the bathroom and another children's room), then we would position the controlled residential ventilation system directly above the bathroom, so hopefully nothing can be heard in the second children's room.
However, the disadvantage is that on this gable side is also the chimney, to which a wood stove is connected. Could it be that depending on the weather conditions and the draft of the chimney, the intake opening of the controlled residential ventilation system might suck in the exhaust gases from the chimney?
Has anyone else had the controlled residential ventilation system installed in the attic (within the insulated envelope)?
