IKEA-Freund understood that better than I did. I wasn't sure if it also includes connections for the cooktop and the like inside the cabinet. Pop-up sockets would also be my favorite, but of course not so suitable with a stone countertop. There is still space behind the drawers. There are also sockets that are not so big.

Is there also a final solution for the island? I found this idea for the power outlets quite charming. In November, I was still able to snag a few Faktum base cabinets to finally expand my kitchen island. Besides the power solution, I am facing another problem. I got a "beautiful" red hand blender from Savisto – actually, my wife wanted it for her fruit & milkshakes... well, never mind. I am now looking for a holder or hanging device for it. Does anyone happen to have an idea? The blender is supposed to be hung in the gap between the two cabinets (15 cm of space).

Build a narrow drawer into the gap.

several options possible as a thought starter

- your proposed option, but keep in mind that custom worktops become extremely expensive beyond a certain depth (depending on the supplier)
- build cover sides from 38mm thick worktops, you can cut the sockets into them with a circle cutter and rout the empty conduits on the back with a router
- lay moisture-resistant cables behind the drawers, built-in socket from above, install a drawer only 38cm deep in the 60cm deep cabinet and use the space gained behind it for a junction box (connect hob) and a built-in socket column
- no sockets in the worktop and buy an island extractor hood that already has sockets integrated

Hello Strahlemann-69,

I am happy to report which option we decided on:

Kitchen island 125 cm wide and 230 cm long. At one end, there is a 60 cm deep base cabinet facing a 37 cm deep base cabinet, but not back to back, rather with about 20 cm of space between them. This space is filled with an open shelf: 2 shelves, and directly below the countertop is a double socket, so you have power on the side of the kitchen island. We also did not really want something retractable on top.

Best regards
Bodbiene
