Is window planning mandatory according to DIN 5034-2021-08?

Our architect says that the window size must be planned according to DIN 5034-2021-08 (new single-family house). That should cost about 3000 EUR, as complex calculations and outsourcing are necessary.

I only know such considerations from commercial buildings (mainly office buildings), where lighting is a matter of occupational safety and therefore mandatory.

As far as I know, no, I have not heard of it in a single case. If I were you, I would instruct the architect to wait and see if they demand this super special calculation, and beforehand ask the building authority (exceptionally orally!) if they want something like that. Does the architect also need a certificate that it is not black money before forwarding the three thousand to the special engineer?

I can basically respond to the requirement with "no, no building authority requests that." It is also not listed as an attachment in any building application form.

Although we have signed the contract for all service phases, the client can terminate at any time. However (unless for an important reason) the architect realistically retains a very large part of his total fee in addition to the services rendered, if I understand the legal situation correctly. Does anyone have practical experience with such terminations?
