Well, you can't really say "need," it's way too general to say everyone needs parquet when barefoot... As I said, our children walk on tiles all year round, preferably barefoot (their own decision, by the way, since about the age of 1). I walk around in socks. No one wears shoes inside the house, no one feels too cold. Even at, for example, -5 degrees Celsius, we have a supply temperature of only almost 30 degrees, which you hardly feel on the surface. Tiles or wood or vinyl or carpet is more a matter of taste and design than technical. Although with dust allergies, carpet can be useful because it "binds" the dust.
