Is underfloor heating in the basement useful??

Another question would be, can I even switch to a heat pump afterwards? Or am I tied to the local heating network? First of all, I am contractually bound to the local heating network for 15 years, but can we switch after that at all?

Of course you can. You can also pay the basic fee for district heating for 15 years and keep yourself warm with a wood stove, electric heater, or liquefied gas in the meantime. Or just with an air-to-water heat pump. You can, but you don’t have to.

Although an air-to-water heat pump wouldn’t be that great for a mid-terrace house either... I have no idea what your project looks like ;)

We have a semi-detached house
So technically it is possible to switch to a heat pump at some point?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of underfloor heating and of radiators?

A combined heat and power plant usually runs on gas. Now the question is whether you want your basement to be cooler after the combined heat and power plant phase ends, or if you want to retrofit an underfloor heating system. And of course, one can also speculate about the time frame. At some point between 10 and 25 years, no combined heat and power plant will be running anymore. For a basement, this is probably acceptable to dig up again after about 15 years...

Another perspective would be the financial one. You say 2700,-€ for the underfloor heating system. How much does one square meter of your living space cost you exactly, and how many square meters would the radiators cover or block? I guess there is a net gain through the underfloor heating...

I don’t quite understand the question now. Have you been following along the last six pages? Everything was mentioned...

Thank you for your help

So there are actually only advantages for underfloor heating except for the only disadvantage of the additional cost

For us now the only question is whether we should also equip the small storage room with underfloor heating with the room thermostat in the hallway or whether we should just leave the storage room without heating since it will be sufficiently heated by the surrounding rooms

According to the heating engineer, the different lengths of the heating circuits are not a problem

The

For him maybe not. Unfortunately, for physics it is. Very short circuits cause hydraulic short circuits. This eventually makes the hydraulic balancing difficult to impossible. But the heating engineer doesn’t do that anyway...
