Is the statics for the garage sufficient?

Hello,

I am having an approximately 6 x 6 garage built directly onto my residential house (new build). The architect assumed a wall thickness of 24 cm for the remaining 3 walls minus the gate. According to the construction company, the walls are now being built with an 11.5 cm calcium silicate brick + approximately 12 cm facing brick. The 11.5 cm seems very little to me regarding the statics, and I wonder whether the facing brick also serves the statics or if the architect possibly simply forgot to include it.

Does anyone have experience with this?

You should not ask yourself or a forum whether the BU has forgotten something.

!Attention layman's opinion, I am neither a structural engineer nor an architect!: Statistically, this is probably quite harmless, but if 24 cm masonry plus insulation was planned, one should ask what purpose it has(had) and whether it is dispensable or not. What is stated in the execution plans (1:50 or 1:100) - 24 cm including insulation or 24 cm plus insulation? Best regards Dirk Grafe

For the garage, there is a building permit and a structural analysis for the building permit, which must be available at the start of construction. There are working drawings from the structural engineer for the execution, containing all necessary information on material qualities and dimensions. Ask your architect about this. If this information is not available, construction must be stopped. An 11.5 masonry as a structural support for a concrete ceiling is generally not sufficient. The facing bricks cannot perform any structural functions if they are purely facing bricks and are not structurally connected to the load-bearing masonry or are not sufficiently founded.
