Is the heat pump air duct relocatable through another room?

Good evening,

we are currently planning our little house and the architect said we would need an outdoor heat pump unit since we only have one exterior wall in the utility room. The other wall is directly the neighbor’s. Then I had the idea to run the supply or exhaust air through an adjacent room and then out through its exterior wall. Oh yes, this is of course all happening in the basement.
Is something like that possible?

Best regards

Hello

An air-to-water heat pump usually has an outdoor unit; therefore, the question does not make sense to me ... especially not after the floor plan has been designed?

An air-to-water heat pump can also be installed in a corner of the basement and draw air from one side of the house wall and discharge it on the other side of the house wall. This way, there is no ugly box standing on the house.

Good morning,

Yes, that is correct - these are usually so-called combination or integral units; these devices are also significantly more expensive.

But before I would accept such an effort with additional wall penetrations through a second room and longer duct routing, I would swap the utility room with the room located on the exterior wall. This way, you solve the supply and exhaust air problem without much effort.

Why has your architect only just now realized that the common air-to-water heat pump has an outdoor unit?

Rhenish greetings

We only had the second appointment and have received a first proposal from the architect. So far, the planning is not very advanced. The utility room is located at the corner where logically the house connections are also situated. If I move it, the pipes will have to be extended. The question is what is more labor-intensive. The architect should discuss this with a heating engineer. If necessary, the system will be placed outside and somehow clad with wood.
