Is it possible to change architects? Costs?

Do you actually have a clear idea of how your floor plan should look? My tip would be to simply go to a prefab house exhibition and get some ideas there. You can also look at floor plans from most companies on the internet. Of course, it would be theft of intellectual property if you were to copy them 1:1, but using them as a reference should be allowed. Besides, everyone has their special wishes. Then you draw on paper how you imagine it and exactly how big it should be, and present that to the architect, who should then create the plans. After all, you decide what you want, not the architect.

We have already been to 2 model home exhibitions, in one even several times. We also have quite specific ideas about the floor plan, and especially on the ground floor, we have designed our own drawing that suits us and is based on a model home. We have given this drawing as well as the floor plan of the model home as a guideline to both the old and the new architect. It doesn’t have to be exactly like this, but in that style. We are still quite clueless about the upper floor because it didn’t quite fit in the model home and we also can’t manage it ourselves. But we do know what we want there, it’s just the implementation that fails for us.

The old architect immediately rejected our plan and the one from the model home, didn’t address it at all, and persistently pushed us back to his own design. That was the main reason we switched. Because he didn’t respond to what we wanted and stuck to his design at all costs. The new architect looked at the plan yesterday, took notes, at first glance found it good and suitable for the plot, and will now design something for us based on this draft.

It’s a pity that things are going so badly with the architect of your general contractor. That’s really frustrating. Especially when you can’t change.
