Is a pull-out bin possible for a 50 cm sink cabinet? Can it be self-assembled?

Hello! I am currently planning our new kitchen with the Ikea Ädel front in white! Unfortunately, we only have space for a 50 cm base cabinet for our sink. I would like to equip this with a pull-out waste bin, which Ikea unfortunately does not offer in this base cabinet width. So either you buy the pull-out cabinet with 3 drawers, of which you then cannot use the top two, and the bottom one is so deep that you might have problems storing the siphon and the dishwasher connection. Or you buy the 50 cm sink base cabinet with a hinged door – but then you don’t have a drawer. Since I definitely want a pull-out waste bin, I am considering buying a Hailo (or Blanco or Franke) pull-out system (they come with integrated waste bins) and converting the 50 cm sink base cabinet accordingly. Has anyone ever done this? Can you simply screw the door on as a pull-out front instead of a hinged door onto such a finished waste bin system? I would be very happy to receive answers! Thank you very much in advance Best regards Bibiwi

You can use the 3-piece set and sell the unnecessary drawers on eBay or buy one on eBay. That is how it will be recommended to you in the furniture store. For the 50 cm cabinet, there is always only the hinged door. How it is mounted on the drawer slide can be seen in the assembly instructions:

You will be able to easily install a system from Franke. The advantage is that the bins are not open inside the cabinet, and you don’t have to open a separate lid. I am curious to see how it will look for the Faktum successor next year.

Hello! That was quick! Thank you very much for the prompt reply. I had already thought about converting the drawer system and selling the rest on Ebay, but in the resulting 50 cm drawer, only 2 relatively small buckets from Ikea would fit, and they would probably slide around. I think that's a rickety matter! That's why my idea with the pull-out system from another company, but in a normal Ikea base cabinet without drawers. So did I understand your answer correctly?: in a normal 50 cm wide Ikea cabinet with a hinged door for sinks, you could install such a Franke pull-out system? And you simply screw the door to the front of the pull-out system? That would be great, that's how I imagined it! Best regards bibiwi

Whether the door is mounted on the collector or whether it extends when opening the hinged door depends on the model. It could be that exactly where the collector is attached to the front, the pot hole is located. In this case, the plastic plug from Ikea or a wooden disc may need to be inserted/glued in. I would only measure everything and buy the appropriate system once the sink with siphon is installed (it's better to install the siphon yourself than having it done by a professional ).

Hello, I had the same problem, especially since my sink cabinet is still positioned around the corner (a regular cabinet, not a corner cabinet, with the countertop accordingly cut as a corner solution). Then I found a garbage bin pull-out at the hardware store: it includes 2 bins one behind the other, is about 30 cm wide, and has a lid on top, so it’s basically a drawer inside the cabinet. The whole thing is mounted with only 2 screws on the cabinet floor. I find it perfect. Next to it and behind it there is still space for various cleaning supplies. The manufacturer is Hailo (I hope I’m allowed to say that here). By the way, this part is also installed in a luxury kitchen brand; they just screw a kitchen front on the front and sell it as a waste pull-out for hundreds of euros. I happened to discover it at my mom’s place after the system looked very familiar to me and I looked underneath.
