That’s how it looks. In summer, the ventilation system isn’t really necessary because you ventilate a lot manually. It’s simply nice to feel the wind and breeze inside; in the morning and evening you have to cool the place down anyway. In winter, on the other hand, we very rarely ventilate manually. Only when a lot of cooking is done or there are guests.Even with summer bypass, such a system doesn’t have a huge air exchange rate. If you want it colder, it definitely helps more to open the windows. The argument of controlled residential ventilation opponents, that you’re not allowed to open windows then, is just outdated; you can open them anytime, but you simply don’t have to when it’s cold outside. We also don’t do the weekly filter cleaning; I vacuum them every 2-3 weeks when I’m vacuuming anyway, and they get replaced every 3-4 months.
