Hello,

I am currently facing the choice of interior doors

Many say that CPL doors are easier to maintain and more durable, but the lacquered ones are considerably more expensive

In the specific case, it is about the Grauthoff Astra series versus HGM

Are there any other quality features involved that I might have overlooked?
It somehow feels wrong to choose the cheap ones

Thank you

It just might not look so nice under certain circumstances. With plain white, CPL is totally fine though. You can also choose a higher sound insulation class and put the price into something else of better quality...

Ours are the cheap ones from JeldWen, coated. No problems with them since 2017. And if one breaks, so what: for a hundred bucks you get a fresh one.

Quality? No real differences. Painted looks a bit nicer if done properly. I have the difference between painted and CPL in white myself. You can easily notice it on the edges. Painted was about 100-150€ more expensive (with Sapeli unrebated doors).

CPL is more robust, paints nicer (if done well). "Quality" in doors is a tricky thing. We tend to exaggerate a bit in Germany. Well-closing doors with long durability are available for very little money. I am a bit "crazy" about these things and pay a lot of attention to look and feel, but I also know that I will be charged for it. If that is not so important to you (otherwise you probably wouldn't ask) and you can use the money differently and it’s not just lying around anyway -> choose a cheap CPL variant. For good and reasonable solutions, it’s worth sticking to the Nordis ( ).
