Insulation with wood fiber vs. mineral wool

It is also a bit about my ecological conscience. Wood fiber is a renewable resource. Mineral wool, I believe, consumes a lot of energy during production. The question for us is whether you can feel the difference in the house. Whether wood fiber simply creates a better indoor climate.

We also happened to find an architect who has a passion for wooden houses, and now we are building one ourselves using a timber frame construction with cellulose insulation. In the meantime, we have already been able to visit several wooden houses from the inside, and we wouldn't want to build anything else now. It is simply very cozy when the wood is left visible. In addition, there is the shorter construction time and the good insulation with thinner wall thickness, and since we are also cladding everything inside with wood, we save ourselves the work of having to paint the entire house on the inside.

We also considered building extensively with wood fiber insulation... unfortunately, we couldn't find a general contractor willing to do it. You won't influence the indoor climate through the insulation – if anything, then rather the plaster and wall paint.

Maybe you should read a publication by the Fraunhofer Institute on the subject. The conclusion is as follows:

*"The investigations have shown that in buildings where large thermal masses are installed in the roof space, such as thick board sheathing or concrete ceilings, the heat storage capacity of the cavity insulation with typical bulk density plays a subordinate role. The influence of the heat storage capacity of the cavity insulation can also be neglected if there are larger window areas in the roof surfaces, because the difference in phase shift between mineral wool and wood fiber insulation board decreases with increasing window area proportion."

Why not just use timber frame construction then? Why do you still need "solid" meaning stone if you insulate your timber frame construction with wood fiber?
