Better buy yourself a few leftover insulation wool pieces via eBay Classifieds and other opportunities and stuff them in. It's definitely better and only slightly more expensive.

But when you had re-rolled everything, you had a layer of air inside -> that provides insulation even better

Thank you for the numerous replies, I already thought some might think I’m joking. I now have the opportunity to get the rolls cheaply, but what do I want with so many rolls.. On top of that, 2 packs of 4 rolls each fit tight between the rafters. Originally, I just wanted to use OSB and the old insulation so that it doesn’t fall down and the attic looks decent. The attic is only to be used as storage space, so it makes more sense to insulate the floor or the last ceiling level..

Maybe here are a few discussion points about the rolls, or possible advantages:

-Ecological insulation material (cellulose)
-The structure of the paper is multilayered with air chambers (which also causes the absorbency when in contact with liquid) should insulate well.
-The rolls are wrapped in plastic foil, which can be an additional protection against soaking up liquid, although how it behaves with condensation and the OSB vapor barrier is a big question.
-Then maybe one more advantage, although a bit far-fetched, you may have heard that people hoard toilet paper as crisis preparedness — I’d be quite well-stocked there.

Thanks in advance for the answers!

Listen up, shove those damn rolls in and look forward to the high heating costs.

I took a few rolls and will just try it out, I also got a few leftover Isover Klemmfilz pieces via Ebay Kleinanzeigen. I'll probably do it half and half and take a look with a thermal imaging camera.

@ hilfehilfe: I don't have high heating costs anyway, so why be so unfriendly right away?
