Insulating the garage roof - yes or no?

I actually thought so too. However, my brother says that his non-insulated garage ceiling (garage also uninsulated and connected to the house) was constantly damp, especially in summer... After he insulated it, he had no problems with moisture :confused: However, his ceiling is not greened. Hmm...

What does a wet ceiling have to do with missing insulation? Even if the garage is connected to the house, it naturally works without insulation and also without water damage if the architect knows what he is doing.

Presumably, condensing moisture was involved? That should not be an issue in an uninsulated garage with proper ventilation!

Our unheated garage was covered with aluminum profiles. The roofer advised double panels with insulating foam in between due to possible condensation on the underside. (which of course is more expensive) No idea if this really makes sense. We trusted him.

Yes, exactly, that’s how it was. The moist warm air (e.g. from a warm car) condensed on the cold garage ceiling...
That’s why I’m afraid that in our case such problems might also occur. Is "normal" ventilation sufficient, or does the side door have to be almost permanently open? hmm...
