Hello,
I have already written a bit about our property in another thread, which is why I am particularly interested in your expertise here.
As described above, we have bought this little house, and work is currently underway inside. Since the electrician will be coming in soon, we want to focus on the attic. We want to insulate the top floor ceiling, preferably with an all-in-one system, e.g. capaclick or something similar.
In various application videos, including the official one from Caparol, no vapor barrier is used. Do you still generally recommend applying one, or does it depend on the substrate? In the one video, they go straight on with the capaclick onto the substrate and that's it. Edge insulation strips added.
Much more interesting is the side area of the attic. The slopes can theoretically be "filled" all the way down to the knee wall.
The previous owner had stuffed 30% of the slopes here with now old mineral wool, but it is worn out. How can this area be effectively and sustainably sealed? I can’t access it from below/inside; can I simply push suitable EPS strips in from above, or does this require working with a foil? If yes, how can I do that, as I can only access it from the attic? I just want a well-insulating system. Slopes from the knee wall up to the attic, insulate the attic and on all sides.
I hope you could follow me, do you have any ideas on how to proceed with a retrofit in an older house?
Thanks and regards
