It would be nice to read about the hospital visit of the [Bauherren].

If I cover something, it must be walkable or marked as non-walkable.

What do you all hope to achieve by him contacting the [bg]? The [bg] will have an interest in shifting the blame to the builder or the civil engineer; they are certainly not neutral!

One would think so, especially if you are self-employed. But that was not the case here, although it was commissioned differently.

So with helmets and scaffold protection something could surely have been improved ;). But our construction stairs are exemplary, everything nicely secured so that even small children cannot walk under the temporary railing. The rest was also mostly okay during my visits. But certainly not like on a larger construction site, you have to say that. Usually, there is no site manager or client on site, and on the surrounding construction sites you see quite different things. Apparently, on a neighboring construction site one of the workers was handling a gas burner and set a box on fire, which he then properly disposed of burning (threw it off the roof).

According to my information, the worker was discharged from the hospital already on Friday afternoon...

Due to new insights (which I probably shouldn't even be aware of), I will not comment further on the case in this thread... as I would probably become really emotional. But luckily we live in the age of digital photography, so even as a builder you don't have to accept everything - especially when you can disprove it.

I have reported the accident to my builders' liability insurance and am now waiting for the next steps...

I don't mind if you get emotional. Maybe others (and I) can also learn from your (negative) experiences?!
