Hello dear community,
we are planning to install 20mm thick oak floorboards in our new building. In forums, there are recurring posts (especially recent ones) suggesting that a floating installation is at least possible. However, despite intensive searching, I haven't found much concrete information.
A Dutch timber merchant apparently recommends floating installation with spacer clips on the walls. But that is said not to be ideal.
Another system uses clips for the individual boards. However, it is quite expensive.
I just want to glue the tongue and groove and otherwise leave the floor floating. The subfloor would be a vapor barrier and 3-5mm impact sound insulation.
Question for you.
Who has done or seen something like this before?
What are the experiences with it?
What conditions must be met for something like this to succeed,
