Hi everyone,
Originally, an air-to-water heat pump was planned (floor plan completed), but now we are considering whether to take a ground-source heat pump instead. We are planning a two-family house without a basement. The air-to-water heat pump was supposed to be installed in the utility room on the ground floor at the front facing the street, as the outdoor unit should be placed there. However, if we get a ground probe in the back garden, we could also install the ground-source heat pump in the rear workshop of the garage.
So theoretically, we have two installation options for the ground-source heat pump.
Longer pipe from the probe to the heat pump if the heat pump is installed at the front of the house in the utility room on the ground floor, resulting in shorter pipes to the underfloor heating.
Or
Shorter pipe from the probe to the heat pump if it is installed in the rear workshop of the garage, resulting in longer pipes to the underfloor heating.
I wonder if the second option would have a significant impact on the COP of the heat pump. Are there any guidelines regarding this?
I would be very grateful for your opinions, advice, tips, and experiences.
Best regards
